Fresh Southold Fishing Reports

We squeezed in a quick trip to Plum Gut yesterday during a short weather window—and it paid off big time! First drift, fish on. ? We landed a mix of slot, under, and oversized bass, keeping two perfect slot fish for the table and releasing plenty more. I had the Cole family back again for a great trip in the Peconic Bay. We caught fish all throughout the trip, from sand sharks to weakfish with two nice keepers for the table. Everyone had a great time, and tasty fillets for the table were brought home.

Took out the Caughlin family from the Philidelphia area for a trip on Peconic Bay. The boys had a blast catching fish almost nonstop throughout the trip. We had plenty of action on short weakfish, porgies, and of course sand sharks. The highlight of the trip was a nice keeper weakfish, and also a keeper fluke. They all had a great time, and went home with some great memories, and some tasty fillets for dinner.

Took out the Miller Charter for a mixed bag Fluke / Striper Combo trip. It couldn't have worked out any better. We hit the inshore fluke grounds in the morning, and although it was a grind, we still managed to get two nice keeper fluke. At this time, the tide was right to make the move to Plum Gut, and do some striper fishing. Although we got there about a 1/2 hour early - once the tide hit the right point, the bite turned on. It was off to the races, with the guys all getting multiple fish, and also managing to catch two slot sized fish to take home. After they had their fill, we headed home with tired arms, and a full cooler of tasty fillets.

This past thursday I took out the Clark family for a morning trip in the Peconic Bay. The fishing started out a little slow, but moving around, we found the fish, and it was non-stop action from then on. They managed to land their limit of large weakfish, and continue fishing catch & release. They also caught some of our other critters of the sea : Porgy, small black seabass, & sand sharks. A great time was had, and a bag of tasty fillets was taken home.
